NEWS FLASH
CHICAGO (CHICAGO URBAN DAILY)— Three people were wounded in broad daylight Saturday afternoon when someone in a passing car opened fire on them in East Garfield Park.
Police said the victims — a 40-year-old woman, a 41-year-old man and a 46-year-old man — were standing outside on the 3000 block of West Flournoy Street at about 2:50 p.m. when the shots rang out.
All three were taken to local hospitals. The woman was shot in the leg and the 46-year-old man in the buttocks; both were listed in fair condition. The 41-year-old man was shot in the neck and was critically injured, police said.
No one is in custody. The shooter’s identity and motive were not immediately known, and police said the investigation is ongoing.
The shooting is the latest burst of weekend gun violence on the West Side — and another reminder that for too many Chicago neighborhoods, daylight offers no safety at all.
