67 Points, Three Games, One Name in the Conversation: Bulls Rookie Caleb Wilson Is Chasing Jordan’s Shadow

CHICAGO URBAN DAILY

CHICAGO (CHICAGO URBAN DAILY)— The Bulls lost their home opener Saturday, 124-120 to Washington. But the United Center crowd got a glimpse of something it has waited years to see.

Rookie Caleb Wilson poured in 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for his first career double-double — five first-half dunks, 17 points before halftime, and a building that believed again.

Through three NBA games, Wilson has scored 67 points. That is the second-most ever by a Bulls player to start a career. The only man ahead of him? Michael Jordan, with 74.

Wilson even matched Jordan’s first two games point for point — 16 in his debut, 21 in game two. Both came out of North Carolina. Jordan went third overall in 1984; Wilson went fourth in 2026. The parallels write themselves, even if the legacy does not transfer overnight.

The Bulls are still finding their rhythm — a 40-20 third quarter from Washington buried them Saturday, despite a late 16-4 Chicago run that cut it to three with 23 seconds left. Matas Buzelis added 21 points and Norman Powell 18 in the loss.

But Chicago has its storyline now. The Bulls visit Boston on Monday, then host the defending champion New York Knicks on Wednesday. The rookie’s next chapter writes itself in real time.
