Howard Hewitt: A Revolution Without One Shot Fired — His Election-Night Message to the Nation

By ASN News Editorial Desk

In a video message shared by Amir Shakur early Thursday morning, singer Howard Hewitt said he has never been prouder of his country — describing election night as a revolution without one shot being fired, a night the nation came together to say no more.

The Vote That Answered Back

Hewitt said the Black vote was enormous, and that voters answered back loudly against efforts to gut the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, and against gerrymandering aimed at cutting out millions of Black and brown votes. He congratulated Keisha Lance Bottoms, Tanya Miller, and Penny Brown Reynolds in Georgia, praising Black women leadership in the state.

“The Weakest Link”

Hewitt said the night showed what he had warned years ago — that narcissism would be its own downfall — calling Trump the weakest link in his own chain.

The Road Toward Healing

Hewitt said the country stood at a fork in the road, and last night it started down a road it had never taken before — toward healing as a nation. But he said the work is only beginning: celebrate for a minute, then get to the hard work of repair. And he warned Democrats directly — voters did not show up out of love for the party, but because they want change, and if the party does not take care of the people’s business, it can and will be replaced.
