Two Shot Inside Loop 7-Eleven as Gunman Flees East on Adams

NEWS FLASH

CHICAGO (CHICAGO URBAN DAILY)— Two men were shot Monday night inside a Loop convenience store, and the gunman got away.

Chicago police said the shooting happened at about 9:45 p.m. in the first block of East Adams Street, near Wabash Avenue, inside a 7-Eleven. An armed person walked in and pointed a gun at a 26-year-old man. The two briefly struggled, police said, and then the gunman fired several shots.

The 26-year-old was struck multiple times across his body. A second customer, a 23-year-old man, was grazed in the foot. Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition and were expected to recover.

The shooter fled east on Adams Street. No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning, and police have not released a description of the shooter or said what led to the confrontation.

Area Three detectives are investigating.

It happened in one of the busiest corridors in the city — a downtown store, on a Monday night, with customers inside. Police are asking anyone who was there, or who saw someone running east on Adams, to come forward.
