CHICAGO (CHICAGO URBAN DAILY)— No time to dwell on Boston. The Bulls are back home tonight, and the defending champions are waiting.
Chicago hosts the New York Knicks tonight at the United Center, with tip-off at 7 p.m. Central on CHSN. Both teams come in at 1-3 — and both come in with something to prove.
The Knicks got their first win of the season Tuesday night, beating Detroit 111-97 at home behind Karl-Anthony Towns’ 27 points. The Bulls, meanwhile, are still stinging from Monday night in Boston, where the Celtics routed them 134-99 and turned a competitive first half into a 35-point blowout.
Norman Powell led Chicago with 20 points in that one, and rookie Caleb Wilson — the story of the season’s first week — scored 17 in the loss. Tonight is the bounce-back test: can the Bulls defend their home floor against a championship team on the second night of a back-to-back?
The matchup to watch is in the paint and on the perimeter. Towns is coming off a 27-point, 20-rebound night. Jalen Brunson added 23 against Detroit. Chicago will need a full-team answer — better shooting than Monday’s 39.2 percent, and a lot more fight on the glass.
The Bulls don’t get a breather after tonight either: they head back to Boston on Friday. But first, the United Center crowd gets its say.
Stay tuned to Chicago Urban Daily for the result and what it means for this young Bulls team.
